The new Natter has arrived

This year's Natter is a summary of all of The Nare's news from 2020 - it was perhaps the most unsual year in the hotel's history. Most importantly it also presents The Whittington Suites - four exceedingly comfortable and spacious suites added at The Nare, which are available to let from 1st March.

The Nare Guests' Digital Photobook is complete. Thank you to everyone who sent in photos - it was lovely to see so many happy Nare memories. This book really captures The Nare experience and is a lovely way to celebrate this special place and share it with one's friends and family.

Liz’s memoirs - 20 years at The Nare

Head Housekeeper, Liz Kingdon, celebrates 20 years at The Nare this year. She has worked in many departments over several stints and is one of the long-term family of staff - a feature of the hotel that returning guests so appreciate. One sunny afternoon in late August, Julie Johns sat down with Liz to reflect on her experience of working at The Nare and how things have changed since starting in the kitchen as a teenager...

Cornwall's first 5 star hotel

The Nare has been awarded 5 stars by the AA - a first for Cornwall. Achieving 5 AA stars has been an ambition for the last few years and is a huge testament to the loyal family of staff and the dedication of General Manager, Matthew Voyle. This is a proud moment for everyone associated with The Nare and is particularly rewarding to receive as the hotel celebrates its pearl anniversary - 30 years of the family’s ownership.

Mrs Burt celebrates 60 years

Daphne Burt has been part of the family business for a remarkable 60 years. She is undoubtedly the most loyal confidant the family has ever known and has been instrumental in making The Nare what it is today. She recalls some of her memories in an informal interview with Mrs Gray's great granddaughter, Cordelia Ashworth.

Celebrating The Nare’s Pearl Anniversary with 3 generations

To celebrate the hotel’s Pearl Anniversary - 30 years under the current family owners – The Nare is asking guests to share their own Pearl Memories of staying at the hotel. The guest that shares the best anecdote will receive a thank you gift - a pair of luxurious pearl earrings or pearl cufflinks - with the hope that they will pass them on to the next generation as their own pearls of wisdom.

Boot Room and Boot Butler

The Nare has a new Boot Room stocked with comfortable wellies from The Original Muck Boot Company. There is a range of other walking apparel too (hotel hounds not usually included) so there's no need to bring bulky clobber from home to enjoy a wander on the beach or coast path. There is also a Boot Butler service to help guests to find the most appropriate size and style of boots.

Alice Rose is back in the water

The Nare's 38ft motor launch offers guests the chance to spend a day on the water exploring the stunning Fal and Helford rivers. One can join other guests on a scheduled sailing or book a private charter. Scheduled sailings are planned during Falmouth Classics week in June, and Falmouth Regatta week in August, with a chance to view a stunning spectacle of racing.

Ken celebrates 40 years

The Nare's head barman celebrates 40 years of service this year. He was already part of the furniture when Mr and Mrs Gray arrived and during his time at The Nare, he has had a close encounter with the Countess of Wessex, taken to the wheel as a chauffeur for an Arab Prince, and won RAC Barman of the Year award.

The Nare is looking as fresh as ever

During the last few months there have been some gentle refurbishments taking place around the hotel. The cocktail bar and several bedrooms and suites have been redecorated with luxurious soft furnishings by GP and J Baker and David Hunt Lighting.

Bespoke Guided Walking

Bespoke guided walks are now available with local expert Simon Hammond. Simon has thoughtfully crafted routes on three different stretches of Cornish coastline including St Ives, Land's End, Helford Passage and St. Anthony's Head. Walks are tailored to suit your desired length, location and difficulty and can include a stop for lunch in a traditional Cornish pub.

The Nare's new classic car for guests

The Nare has acquired a classic Morgan sports car for guests to hire during their stay. The Morgan complements the hotel’s chauffeur vehicles in offering guests an easy way to access a variety of sights in Cornwall. Hop from fishing village to beach on the Roseland Peninsula, or simply enjoy scenic drives further-a-field.
