Introducing Cornwall's only five-star country house hotel

The Nare stands alone. With the stunning secluded position above the unspoilt Carne Beach, the dramatic beauty of Cornwall's Roseland Peninsula, and its distinguished reputation as the country house hotel by the sea, it is genuinely unique.

Here, green hills give way to panoramic sea views, while a dedicated team of long-serving staff is committed to ensuring every stay is exceptional. Spacious, elegant interiors create an immediate sense of comfort and belonging, no matter how far guests have travelled.

A personable experience worth cherishing

The Nare is an exclusive and privately owned 46-bedroom, five-star country house hotel. Traditionally managed, yet with proprietorial presence and charm, it is considered to be the most comfortable and elegant hotel in Cornwall. The Nare’s brand of traditional generous hospitality and personal touches make for a truly relaxing stay all year round.

Escape to the most stunning location…

The Nare's spectacular south coast location provides the most delightful sanctuary and a choice escape from the stresses of everyday life. Situated in a secluded bay, the hotel is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, rolling hills and boasts panoramic sea views over Carne beach. The Nare is hidden far from the madding crowd in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Indulgence for all generations

The Nare welcomes guests of all ages, is well suited for family holidays, and provides an ideal venue for gatherings of several generations. There are plenty of activities for families and children, with the safe and sandy Carne beach, two swimming pools, a sea-view hot tub, spa treatments, tennis, croquet, sailing, sea-fishing, coastal walking and more.

A warm welcome from Toby and Katie Ashworth

I am particularly proud to introduce you to The Nare which has been in our family’s ownership for over 35 years. Today it remains the county’s only AA 5-star country house hotel and has been the highest rated hotel in Cornwall for the last three decades...

An oasis of peace and tranquillity

Nestled in a quiet corner of the hotel The Carne Bay Spa encourages guests to unwind, indulge and shed all their worldly worries. Choose a deep, euphoric massage or simply enjoy a spot of gentle caring pampering - each treatment provides the perfect touch of indulgence.

Beautiful rooms, breathtaking views

Each of The Nare's 46 individually decorated bedrooms is an experience in itself. Here, within a private haven of comfort and character, classic country house décor sets the stage for a collection of quietly thoughtful surprises. Most rooms are exceptionally spacious. Many enjoy sweeping views of the coast or countryside. All are tailored for comfort, with antique furniture, plump bedding and luxurious amenities.

Menus of unforgettable moments

While staying at The Nare is like coming home, its restaurant and Dining Room feel like a trip to the theatre. Here, Cornwall's finest local produce is given centre stage against the blissful backdrop of Gerrans Bay. In the Dining Room, flambés roar while homemade puddings swish by on elegant serving trolleys. In The Quarterdeck, the treasures of the coast are presented in simple, sophisticated, mouthwatering style. Each is distinctly different, and deliciously memorable.
