Best Hotel for Sustainability

On Monday 5th November Condé Nast Johansens announced the winners of their 2019 Awards for Excellence across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the Mediterranean at The May Fair Hotel in London. The Annual Awards Dinner celebrates the best hotels across the world, which continue to raise the benchmark in luxury travel.

The Nare was honoured to receive the gratuitous award for Best Hotel for Sustainability. General Manager, Matthew Voyle, was in London to collect the award on behalf of The Nare, which recognises the hotel's commitment to protecting the environment and its local habitat.

The Nare's commitment to its Econitiatives was recognised by guests, who recommended the hotel for this award, and by independent travel advisors from Condé Nast Johansens. The Nare has introduced many Econitiatives for over the last twenty years despite the challenges and costs presented by 100 year old buildings and a coastal location situated within an environmentally sensitive area.

The area directly surrounding the hotel is categorised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), a Heritage Coast, a Site of Specific Scientific Interest (SSI) and a Special Protection Area (SAP). Much of the land is also owned by the National Trust. These initiatives have also been achieved behind-the-scenes so that the comfort felt by guests is not compromised.
