The Nare Hotel
Do you need a little help with some of our web site content? Then read on....

Audio . . .
The following are required:
    Get RealOne Player
  1. RealOne Player - you need to have this installed on your computer, if its not there already. This is the same 'Plug-in' that is needed to play the audio and video clips on the BBC web site, for example, so be reassured that this is a very useful and respectable bit of software to have.
Click on the RealOne banner on the right, to go the RealOne web site. The software you need is quite free, so you should ignore the various invitations to buy other products. The link to the software you need is tucked away near the top right-hand corner of the page - 'FREE RealOne Player'

  2. Loudspeakers - it may sound obvious, but your computer needs a sound card and speakers, installed and switched on. The volume may be turned down, either on the speakers themselves, or the software audio controls - you can usually find them by clicking on the small loudspeaker icon on your Taskbar.

  3. Connection - when you click on the Play control, the audio file will start to download, and play after a few seconds. If your internet connection is slow, or there is net congestion, the audio may be interrupted for several seconds until sufficient data has downloaded into the buffer, to permit playing to start up. A 56K modem is more than adequate for full speed speech.
